Thursday morning tropical weather update: Tropical Storm Eta heads toward Gulf of Mexico

There is not much left with Eta as it sits over Honduras as a tropical depression, if it is even that intensity. It continues to bring incredible heavy flooding rains to Central America as it slowly moves over the mountainous terrain today. This terrain is dissipating Eta and it could be just a remnant low right now. However, the circulation is still present. Forecast models are showing Eta’s circulation aloft moving NE and back into the Caribbean on Friday. It will be interacting with a trough of low pressure over the Gulf of Mexico and that will pull it northeast.
